Welcome to Harmony Express
For over 40 years, HEX has been telling the story of barbershop in Britain. The publication is back in a new format.
I'm thrilled to bring you the next generation of Harmony Express.
Harmony Express is now an email newsletter, backed by a dedicated website. Each issue will focus on one story from the community. These stories will include:
- News and updates from clubs and quartets
- Events from the international barbershop community
- Features and editorials
- Occasional guest posts
The full back-catalogue will always be available on the Harmony Express website: hex.singbarbershop.com
Who's running it?
Harmony Express is currently edited and managed by Peter Bryant. A member of BABS for 20 years, Peter sings with gold-medal quartet Limelight, and is the musical director of Main Street Sound (LABBS). He also sings with Happy Sundays and York City Harmonisers. He was a member of the BABS Board from 2019-2025.
Harmony Express is a free publication available for anyone to read and subscribe to. The cost of running the site and newsletter are paid for by the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS). All contributors, including the editor, are volunteers and do not financially benefit.
While the publication is funded by BABS, we are aiming to be a distinct entity. HEX is not just going to be another place for BABS to make announcements; we want this to be about the community, first and foremost.
How can I get involved?
We welcome contributions of any kind from the community, including:
- Stories, news, and updates from your chorus or quartet — it doesn't have to be a BABS group, and you don't have to write the whole post
- An idea for a post or story you would like to write for the newsletter
- Reader letters
You can also get in touch if you have any comments or feedback on the publication itself.
